70MPH WINDS CAUSE CHAOS ALONG COAST
Beach huts shifted out of position by the storm Moving the huts back into place
(SARAH TILOTTA FOLKESTONE & HYTHE DISTRICT COUNCIL)
REPAIR crews were deployed across the Folkestone and Hythe coastline last Friday after gale-force winds from Storm Goretti left a trail of destruction, forcing the closure of a major coastal road.
A yellow weather warning was in effect until Friday morning (January 9) as the district was lashed by gusts of up to 70mph.
The force of the gales resulted in massive amounts of shingle being swept onto roads and promenades, while several sea walls, railings, and benches sustained serious damage.
