The pundits would have you believe that the Wrexham story is a fairytale, and nobody can dispute that their successive promotions from the National League to the Championship is an impressive achievement.

But of course, it helps if you have a wad of cash to bankroll your ambitions, and there has been plenty of that in supply courtesy of Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Wrexham's spending was in excess of £30m on fees alone last summer and they also celebrated the arrival of Josh Windass, who would no doubt be on a hefty salary after leaving Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer.

They could even afford the luxury of having Conor Coady on the bench for this game and he was playing Premier League football with Leicester City last season.
