Patrick Agyemang had pounced to capitalise on a mistake by Baggies goalkeeper Max O’Leary to put the Rams ahead in the first half at Pride Park Stadium only for Mepham to equalise from a corner in stoppage time as the game finished 1-1.

In a dour first half in which both sides struggled for opportunities, you sensed it would be one of those nights when a set-piece might prove to be the difference.
