MP hails roads backing for green diggers

THE MP for Burton and Uttoxeter has hailed the “huge milestone” that will allow hydrogen-powered diggers and tractors to be driven on UK roads.

A new law, which came into force on April 29, allows hydrogen-powered non-road mobile machinery, such as diggers and tractors to use the public highway.

JCB chairman Lord Bamford - who instigated a £100 million project to develop a hydrogen combustion engine - hailed the news as “historic”.
