WITH perfect timing, Derby Cathedral's peregrines hatched their first egg of the year - at Easter.

After what seemed like a long wait, a chick was spotted on the Derby Cathedral Peregrine Project webcam just before midnight on Saturday.
It was the first of four eggs that were laid from Monday, March 10, and it is hoped the others will hatch over the coming days.
The screengrab above was captured by Helen, one of the dedicated watch point volunteers.
The Derby Cathedral Peregrine Project, which is now into its 20th year, is a partnership between Derby Cathedral, Cathedral Quarter, Derby City Council and Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, which manages the project. It was set up by Nick Brown and Nick Moyes back in 2006.
