Council's reassurance that new tip smells will be 'kept under control'

ANY smells coming from a new Derby tip will be kept under control, the city council's leader has said.

However, Nadine Peatfield, leader of Derby City Council, rejected a request for the new contract to have a specific clause in it to provide protection for residents.

The city council is seeking to sign up with a firm “to provide a tipping location for food waste collection vehicles, as well as for the processing of collected food waste”.

This comes ahead of major changes to bin collections in the city and nationwide with councils required to provide weekly food collections to boost the environment.
