ALTERNATIVE OWNERS SOUGHT FOR WHAT WOULD BE CITY'S TALLEST BUILDING OF 202 APARTMENTS

- By ZENA HAWLEY

THE future over what was set to be Derby's tallest buildings - the 17-storey Landmark in Phoenix Street - is uncertain after the company developing the project called in receivers to find an alternative owner for the site.

The Godwin Developments project, which would see a 202-apartment tower built on the car park site, has a long and complicated history.

It was first proposed in 2018 but took two years to finally get planning permission after concerns were raised by Historic England and the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), due to its proximity to the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.

This saw the proposal put before the Government which decided not to call it in for further discussion.
