City helps serve up £6k to funds-hit food charity

THE Derby public has “rallied together” to support the most vulnerable residents as a lifeline city charity pleads for urgent help.

But its leader has warned the Derby Food 4 Thought Alliance's (DF4TA) future remains uncertain despite receiving thousands of pounds in donations in just days - and said there is “no light at the end of tunnel yet”.

The charity last week made a public plea for donations, saying it was fast running out of food supplies and that desperate households in the city could be left without help - possibly as soon as by the end of the week.

It said it “simply doesn’t have the funds to keep spending £8,000 to £10,000 a month on food to fill our shelves”.
