Boxes ticked in battling Terriers draw

APART from not grabbing a goal themselves, Burton Albion's performance away to Huddersfield Town on Saturday was just what the doctor ordered.

Boxes ticked in battling Terriers draw

Jake Beesley rues a close call in attack for Burton.

After being outplayed by a Luton Town side who have again proved since that they do not perform that well every week and after being rather tamely beaten by Lincoln City, the Brewers needed a display full of hard work and grit.

And that's just what they came up with away in a goalless draw away to a Huddersfield side brimming with expensive signings - a side, remember, that had not dropped a point at home in League One this season before this one.

I was away on a short break for this one and when I checked in on the stats at halftime, Albion were only a shade behind on possession and had had more shots, with home keeper Lee Nicholls having made more saves.

It was a bit of a different story in the second half, as the Terriers raised their possession stat to almost 70% overall.

By the end, each keeper was credited with three saves and Huddersfield had racked up 15 corners but they had had only 12 goal attempts, not some massive number.

They had five on target - take away the three saves by Brad Collins and the other two were excellent clearances off the line by Alex Hartridge.
