Apartments hope for former city care home

PLANS have been revealed to redevelop the site of a former “eyesore” Derby care home with up to 90 new apartments.

Derby City Council is eyeing up big change where the former Bramblebrook House stood on Rough Heanor Road in Mickleover.

Only brief proposals have been released at this stage with further information likely to be detailed in the near future or later in the year.

But it appears a big transformation project is in the pipeline, significantly changing the area's “neglected” appearance which could support some of the city's most vulnerable people.

The council's latest Forward Plan report, which is updated monthly, says the authority hopes to build dozens of new homes for “older people and younger disabled people” at the site.
