Young mother's alleged killer denied bail after 'shooting her in her sleep'

A DELFT family is still battling heartbreak and confusion after a young mother was shot and killed in her sleep last month.

Shime Plaatjies, 20, was shot three times on 5 October while sleeping in a friend's home in Tamla Street, Voorbrug.

She died two days later, leaving behind a little girl who is now trying to make sense of a world without her mother.

Her alleged killer, 21-year-old Kyle Jacobs, appeared in the Bellville Magistrates Court on Wednesday, where he was denied bail.
