But what do you have to do as a female footballer to stay fit and well? Here former World Cup skipper and Chelsea defender Millie Bright tells JAMES MOORE all about her regime.

WHAT is your weekly football training regime?

“In terms of physical training, it’s a mix of running through tactical and technical drills with the team alongside individual work in the gym, where I'll focus on strength and conditioning, agility and endurance. Anything from a bike ride through to weight training - I like to make sure we cover all bases.”

How much time do you spend in the gym?

“I like to get in the gym three times a week at least and will normally do a one-hour session. I focus on building strength and power. Core strength is really important to me in helping to build a strong foundation that allows me to be agile on my feet and keep in better control of my body and the ball.”
