But they aren't the only bizarre stories from the history of the Games, as JAMES MOORE reveals in a wild and wacky A-Z...

BLUBBING athlete Sturla Holm Lægreid has confessed to cheating on his girlfriend live on TV, after winning a bronze medal at the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, Italy.

The 28-year-old Norwegian made his confession after competing in the 20km individual biathlon. This year's tournament has already had Penisgate - unproven allegations that ski jumpers have been injecting acid into their willies to gain an advantage in flight.

A is for...APRES SKI: The Winter Olympics can get, er, a bit racy. American Alpine ski racer Laurenne Ross once made the saucy confession that she "hooked up with everyone" at the Games.

B is for...BOND: Cortina also hosted the Games in 1956. Many of the venues were used for scenes in the 1981 James Bond flick For Your Eyes Only, starring Roger Moore.

C is for...CASH: Author Kirk Field has claimed that Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards, who famously competed for Britain in the 1988 Games in Calgary, Canada, brought back £40,000 in cash in a suitcase as part of a deal for T-shirt endorsements.

D is for...DIETS: At the 2018 Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, the Norwegian team ordered in 15,000 eggs by mistake instead of 1,500.

E is for...EFFORT: At the 1952 Games in Oslo, Greek skier Antoin Miliordos scored the slowest speed ever in a slalom race 6.33mph. He fell 18 times during his qualifying run and crossed the line backwards.

F is for...FAVOURS: American Alpine skier Carrie Sheinberg said some other athletes at the 1994 Games in Lillehammer, Norway, offered to trade their medals for "favours".
