Williams is fit and raring to go for showpiece event

ENGLAND captain George Williams declared himself fit for the Challenge Cup final and then aimed a shot at those writing off his Warrington side.

The stand-off has faced a race against time to be ready for Saturday's Wembley showdown with Hull KR.

He was initially expected to miss the big day after needing ankle surgery that required an eight to 10-week recovery time.

But the inspirational Wolves skipper simply ignored that and worked overtime.

At yesterday's cup final press event in Leeds, Williams said: "I am going to play.

"I've just fast-forwarded everything and shaved a couple of weeks off the normal recovery time.
