All-time great De Bruyne deserves statue says Pep

- DAVID ANDERSON

PEP GUARDIOLA is certain Kevin De Bruyne will have a statue at Manchester City because he is one of their greatest players.

De Bruyne announced yesterday he will be leaving City when his contract expires this summer after 10 trophy-laden years at the Etihad.

The playmaker has won 16 trophies with City to become the Blues' most-decorated player, including the Champions League, six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and five League Cups.

De Bruyne's departure will mark the end of an era at City and he is their longest-serving player, having joined in a £55m deal from Wolfsburg in 2015.

Guardiola believes the Belgian star will be honoured with a statue and said: "I will bet a lot of money that it's going to happen.

"It's a sad day, but also a happy day for the fact that the pleasure personally that I lived this time with him.
