SANTAS AMIGO (9.04) can strike gold in the north east once again by landing the Premier Greyhound Racing All England Cup Final on a special night at Newcastle.

Lining up against five local challengers for the £20,000 Category One decider, the Romford-based runner triumphed on Wearside when winning the Arc Classic at Sunderland last month and now travels north again tonight aiming to score on Tyneside for David Mullins.

And, if anything, Santas Amigo has improved since landing Classic gold.

His all-round pace is a joy, but this festive treat might be won off the front, securing first run on a powerful team fielded by Tom Heilbron. Best of these is Derby semifinalist Droopys Bookem, for whom the switch to the red-box might help.
