DECEMBER is always a busy month for Santa but once upon a time he delivered more presents than ever before.

In 2007, the big man scored a sackful of festive goals for Blackburn which left fans - and headline writers - feeling like it was Christmas every day.

We are, of course, referring to the former Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz.

The Paraguayan arrived at Ewood Park from Bayern Munich in 2007 and became part of the best Blackburn team since Kenny Dalglish’s champions of 1995.

A goal on his Premier League debut against Middlesbrough with just his fourth touch was the perfect start to life in England and then he became a nightmare before Christmas for defences.

The yuletide avalanche of goals began with a hat-trick against Wigan on the 15th but Santa Cruz still ended up on the losing side as Rovers slipped to a 5-3 defeat.
