Ruth: My Gavin and racy bust 'HEAVING BOSOM'

RUTH Jones has told how her secret weapon when playing Jane Austen character Mrs Bennet was her "heaving bosom".

The Gavin & Stacey star takes on the role in new BBC1 drama The Other Bennet Sister, which tells the story of Pride And Prejudice middle sis Mary, who barely gets a look-in.

"Mrs Bennet relies very heavily on a heaving bosom," the actress said.

"It's almost like her engine and she rarely gets seen without it - apart from when she's in her nightie. So that's her secret weapon and that's all down to the wonderful costume department. I quite liked wearing a corset."

In the show, Mary's mum is determined to marry off her five daughters while her dad remains entirely disinterested.
