THE point of the Viktor Gyokeres transfer was the here and now.

And to that end, Arsenal's £64m summer signing has not yet worked.

The key word remains "yet". He might come good. He is 27, he is only a few months into a five-year contract and he may adapt to life at Arsenal.

But the Gunners went down the Gyokeres route because they wanted a player who was ready to go.

The Sweden star was brought in for his prolific scoring record, his mentality but also because he was at a stage of his career where you would not have to wait. He was bought to hit the ground running.

Arsenal want trophies now. He was brought in to score the goals to help them get over the line.
