Defender eager to step up comeback in Cup.. but he's gutted for 'treasured' Endo
Joe Gomez has declared himself ready to step back into the Liverpool starting lineup - but admits he is "gutted" Wataru Endo is now facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Gomez made his return after three games out with a hip problem when he replaced the injured Endo (below) at right-back midway through the second half of the 1-0 Premier League win at Sunderland on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old is now in contention for only his third start in two months for the FA Cup fourth-round clash at home to Brighton tonight.
Gomez had several weeks on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury during the Stadium of Light. Reds boss Arne Slot is braced for losing the 33-year-old for an extended period.
Gomez added: "I'm gutted for Wata. He's such a treasured part of this squad and we appreciate him so much.
