Fans crowding cinemas to see Barbie ‘cause spike in Covid’ | New warning by boffins as ‘Eris’ variant sweeps Britain

THE hit Barbie movie has been blamed for sparking a new Covid “pinkdemic”. 

Punters are flocking to see the blockbuster, starring Margot Robbie, 33, above, along with Oppenheimer.

Experts have speculated that the “Barbenheimer effect” is a factor in the latest Covid variant sweeping Britain.

In the States, Dr Peter Hotez, dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine in Texas, tweeted: “Not to be a Debbie Downer. But is anyone worried about a post-Barbie Box Office Covid bump? Or post-Oppie?”
