FORMER PERU TWO DRUG MULE FACES SAS ORDEAL
IF there is one woman who might be equipped to take on an SAS grilling, it is Michaella McCollum.
More than a decade has passed since she made headlines as one of the so-called Peru Two, drug mules jailed for three years in one of South America's toughest prisons.
Now Michaella, 32, is back in the public eye as a competitor on Channel 4's Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. It's not a show for the fainthearted Tasha Ghouri, Chloe Burrows, Hannah Spearritt and Louie Spence all quit within the first two episodes.
But Michaella is determined to show people a different side to her, as mum to seven-year-old twin boys.
She says: "It is so easy to sit at home and judge somebody when somebody's whole life is tearing apart.
"So I feel like it was important to show I am not just that girl who went to prison. I am a mother, I am a human, I make mistakes. I hope it does change the public's opinion, but if it doesn't, it doesn't."
On August 6, 2013, Michaella and Melissa Reid were arrested at Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima, Peru with cocaine worth £1.5million in their luggage.
Michaella had been convinced to attempt to smuggle the drugs to Spain by a man she met in Ibiza.
