Mcllroy a Major player

RORY MCILROY insists his dedication to achieving more Major glory can pay off at the US PGA Championship.

No player has ever won all four of golf’s biggest events in a calendar year.

But McIlroy arrives at Quail Hollow, a course where he has excelled in the past, as favourite to win the second Major of the year after completing the career Grand Slam with victory at the Masters last month.

And the Ulsterman, who starts his bid for glory at 1.22pm today, warned his rivals that spending the past few years focusing all his energy into winning the biggest tournaments can see him claim his sixth Major on Sunday.
