MARK WOOD made a rapid return to Test cricket to fire up England’s hopes of keeping their Ashes dream alive. 

Wood took a sensational 5-34 to burn through the Australian batting line-up on a sensational international comeback at Headingley.

And his performance left people wondering how different the series might have been had he been let off the leash sooner than this third Test, with England currently 2-0 down.

Aussie Mitchell Marsh was the only one to provide any resistance during a thrilling opening day’s play in Leeds.

Marsh came in from the cold himself to turn the heat on England with a stunning 118, which threatened to take the game away from the hosts.
