Salah record as pros vote him best for third time

THE STARS were out last night to hail history maker Mo Salah after he completed a clean sweep of awards.

The Liverpool striker has become the first player to win the Professional Footballers’ Association's Player of the Year award three times.

Salah had already won the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year gong after a remarkable season, which saw him help Liverpool win the title with his 29 goals and a career-best of 19 assists.

He said: “I look at myself now, a guy coming from Egypt and making it to the top level, making history today, it’s something that makes me so proud.”

After a busy summer of transfers at Anfield but also the tragic death of Diogo Jota, Salah said it was too early to say whether the champions were stronger than last year.
