Gvardiol sets his sights on Club World Cup to make up for City's domestic troubles

JOSKO GVARDIOL insists Manchester City will not be going to the United States for a holiday - and have their sights set on making amends for this season.

City finished emptyhanded after missing out on the title, losing the FA Cup final and crashing out early in the Champions League. But they do have a shot at redemption in the Club World Cup and Gvardiol says it is a chance to show they can still win the biggest trophies.

City's Croatia defender said: "I'm really excited. This is the best tournament - 32 teams from around the world, in America, so I can't wait to get there and hopefully achieve something really special.

"In Europe, we know how the atmosphere goes and this is something a bit different. We're going to get a chance to see how the atmosphere is around the world - it's something new, a new experience and everyone is looking forward to it.
