CANINE EXPERT REVEALS MEANINGS BEHIND POOCHES' POSITIONS

AS a nation of dog lovers, we revel in watching them snooze. Whether your four-legged companion curls up to kip or rests their nose on your lap, it's a heart-warming sight.

And a canine expert says your pooch's sleeping position can reveal vital clues about their health and happiness.

Rachel Rodgers from Nose To Trail Pet Behaviour Services in Nantwich, Cheshire, has won a string of awards, including UK Dog Trainer Of The Year and Best Dog Trainer And Behaviourist in North West England.

Speaking on behalf of Napo Pet Insurance, she told us: "The key take-away?

"Ensuring they have enough space and support to sleep soundly is one of the best things a pet parent can do for their four-legged friend."

LION'S POSITION

A LION position or "sphinx pose" could signify a mutt who struggles to relax and is ready to spring into action at the blink of an eye, says Rachel.

She adds: "It's commonly seen in protective breeds such as the Belgian malinois, Rhodesian ridgeback and Catalonian sheepdog - dogs known for their guarding instincts.
