£7.5bn cost to mend cars damaged by ruined roads

CAR damage from potholes in the last year cost drivers a whopping £7.5billion. 

But cash-strapped councils shelled out a total of just £900,000 in compensation – one in every 849 claims.

The figures came from a Freedom of Information request by Halfords, whose boss Graham Stapleton said they were “very worrying” and highlighted “the true cost of the lack of investment in UK roads”.
