PUNTERS will be crossing their fingers today in the hope of winning big in the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Millions are riding on the results when the horses face off in the world-famous race this afternoon.

Perhaps it's no wonder so many people have superstitions involving horses.

It's thought to be bad luck to change a horse's name. They tend to know their names, so they might not be sure who you're talking to.

Green is an unlucky colour for equestrians. Even a green hankie at the betting ring could be enough to make your horse fall on the grass.

Seeing one grey horse is unlucky - unless you are with your lover - but seeing two together is the opposite.
