CHAMP OUT TO RUN IT BACK

NEW light-heavyweight king Magomed Ankalaev won't be telling ex-champ Alex Pereira to jog on - but he does want the Brazilian to leave his "running" shoes at home next time.

The Russian (landing a hit on Pereira, right) edged their clash at UFC 313 in Las Vegas, getting the nod from all three judges after five marathon rounds, rather than the high-impact sprint many predicted.

Uncharacteristically, Pereira fought off his back foot for the majority of the bout, although, as usual, he landed plenty of calf kicks, with the Russian having the more eye-catching moments that swung things in his favour on the scorecards.
