Lack of excitement and big January deals as clubs keep powder dry until the summer

BROKEN WINDOW

THE quietest deadline day on record ended a very underwhelming transfer window.

Premier League clubs spent £390m on new signings, the third biggest winter total, with Jorgen Strand Larsen’s £48m move from Wolves to Crystal Palace the biggest deadline deal.

That was one of just seven last-minute deals completed, which plays into the prospect of another summer spending spree ahead.

You can be certain that Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson will be top of the wanted list for several teams including Manchester United and Manchester City.

Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton is another hot property and is almost certain to fetch a huge fee and be at the centre of a big transfer tug-of-war.

They are the big-money deals likely to happen this summer with United also keen on Wharton.
