- JAMES MOORE

IT was the era of Cool Britannia, when the charts seemed to be bursting with bright young bands.

★Now Blur are re-releasing their 1995 album hit The Great Escape, featuring hits like Country House, to celebrate the 30th anniversary.

After the group’s success, singer Damon Albarn went on to form the band Gorillaz, bassist Alex James became a cheesemaker. Guitarists Graham Coxon went solo and drummer Dave Rowntree, stood, in vain, as an MP.

Blur’s move comes on ★ the back of the Oasis reunion gigs this year. But what happened to the other famous Britpop groups of the era? Here JAMES MOORE reveals all...

Supergrass

Best known for their 1995 hit Alright, the band were originally made up of singer and guitarist Gaz Coombes, drummer Danny Goffey and bassist Mick Quinn.

The band split in 2010 and went on to solo careers, but have since reformed.

Coombes, 49, is now a dad-of-two, Goffey is married with three kids and appeared on Celebrity Masterchef, while dad Quinn is also married.

Elastica

Suede’s Justine Frischmann and drummer Justin Welch formed the band in 1992 and released their self-titled album in 1995.

Frischmann, now 56, also dated Blur frontman Damon Albarn.
