Time to resort to pacy Gstaad

GSTAAD (3.50) can pay a huge compliment to Venetian Sun by landing a 16th Vincent O’Brien National Stakes for the maestro Aidan O’Brien at the Curragh today.

The two masters of the great Ballydoyle establishment have farmed this Group One event, with Vincent chalking up 10 wins, and this powerful bay colt can get back on track after failing by a short neck to pull back the filly Venetian Sun in the Prix Morny last month.

Outpaced by his conqueror about 300 yards out, he responded brilliantly to the urgings of Ryan Moore and would probably have got back up in a couple more strides.

This extra 220 yards should be right up his street and with plenty of natural pace in the race courtesy of stablemate Dorset and North Coast, this valuable prize should set up nicely for the selection.
