RICHARD SPENCER’S sprinter Two Tribes went to war with the bookies to land a monumental gamble in Goodwood’s Coral Stewards’ Cup.

Despite landing the Moët & Chandon International Handicap on Ascot's King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes undercard a week earlier, the four-year-old was on offer at 18-1 for the six-furlong cavalry charge yesterday morning.

With David Egan again in the saddle, punters backed Two Tribes down to 11-2 and he was up with the pace from the start in the group that raced closest to the stands’ rail and took over the lead from last year’s winner Get It entering the final two furlongs.
