WHY ALEX IS STILL GETTING THE WORD 'MORE' FROM FANS

- by ED GLEAVE TV Editor

ALEX Lowe is eternally grateful to comedy legend Peter Kay.

The star got his big break playing eccentric psychic Clinton Baptiste on TV classic Phoenix Nights.

After the Channel 4 show ended, Peter gave him the green light to keep doing the character - best known for his catchphrase “I'm getting the word...”

It has helped make Alex a very successful career in stand-up.

He said: “I owe Peter a lot. He was very kind to let me keep playing Clinton.

“He could have easily said no, but he didn’t. I've got a lot to thank him for.”

It’s been 25 years since Phoenix Nights first aired, but the pair are still pals.

In fact, Alex often gets advice from Peter.
