MASON MOUNT was recently named by teammate Diogo Dalot as the teacher's pet in Manchester United's squad.

So Ruben Amorim's praise of the midfielder, ahead of tomorrow night's meeting with Bournemouth, was no surprise.

Amorim has not hidden his affection for Mount, with the Red Devils having lost just one Premier League game this season when the 26-year-old has featured in the starting XI.

The United boss said: “He's a very, very smart player, he's really technical. Because sometimes being a technical player is not just about having fun with the ball. It's the quality of the pass, the reception, how to receive the ball, and with these things, he's really smart.

“He can balance our team well, so he’s a very good player.”

It was the second time Amorim had praised Mount in a week, having described him as “really important" for United following the 4-1 victory against Wolves at Molineux.
