Huge festive run could make or break season after Ibrox flop

IT'S a tough time of year to be a footballer, with the festive party season in full swing.

You end up cooped up in a hotel while the rest of the world is out enjoying themselves, knocking back the bevvy and stuffing their faces.

I'm sure there will be one or two players who might be having a look at the bookings" table going into this weekend and thinking a wee late tackle could get them a plate of turkey! It honestly never crossed my mind in my days on the pitch.

I always saw it as a sacrifice you had to make to be a professional. My tackling was never up to much anyway...

There's another side to it as well. It might be a season to be jolly but it's also a time to be making a move. And no one at Hibs can be thinking about sticking the feet up this week as this is a period that can make or break this season.

The next seven days or so could sort out whether my old club are going to be a top-six team this term - or whether they are going to be in the mix for the top three and Europe.

I know where I'd want to be -and where they should be.
