Millman’s filly could win the race in Newbury’s Super Sprint

- GARRY OWEN

ANTHELIA (3.35) looks hot stuff for Brian Millman in the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury.

The two-year-old outran odds of 18-1 when slamming Can you hear the drums on debut at Bath. She then showed a cracking attitude as well as raw speed when pipping Madame X at Salisbury.

Those efforts earned the daughter of Supremacy a tilt at the Listed National Stakes at Sandown. And the filly duly capped her relentless rise over five furlongs by comfortably defeating First Legion.

She didn't quite stay six furlongs when fifth to Argentine Tango in the Empress at Newmarket. The Devon raider retains plenty of ability so she can resume winning ways down in trip and class.

RASHABAR (1.50) can also benefit from a slight lowering of sights in the Steventon Stakes.

Brian Meehan's three-year-old looked set for a big 2025 after two near-misses in French Group Is last year. He remained on track when runner-up to Jonquil on his comeback in the Greenham at Newbury.

The colt wasn't disgraced when fourth in one-mile Group 1 at both the Curragh and Royal Ascot and was staying on well late at those stiff tracks so can bounce back up in trip.

WILD WAVES (2.25) can wash his rivals away for Andrew Balding in the BetVictor Handicap. The gelding lost his way after cosily denying East India Dock over 1m 6f at Doncaster last year.

The four-year-old benefited from stepping-up to 2m 5f when third to Sober in the Queen Alexandra at Ascot and remains unexposed over long distances so he can land this much weaker contest.

REGIONAL (2.57) can chart a course to glory for Ed Bethell in the Novum Hackwood Stakes.
