Spanish have a Mat finish

PLENTY of punters tune into the Under-21 Euros hoping to catch a glimpse of the next batch of superstars before they hit the big time.

But some of the best young talents on the continent aren't taking part in Slovakia this summer because they've already become mainstays at senior level for their nations.

The likes of Lamine Yamal, Jude Bellingham, Florian Wirtz and Joao Neves are all still eligible to play for the Under-21s but now have bigger fish to fry.

Spain could have fielded a side that included Yamal, Dean Huijsen, Pau Cubarsi, Gavi and Fermin Lopez, which would have made them favourites to go all the way.

None of those superstars made their squad but La Roja still managed to beat hosts Slovakia 3-2 in a thrilling Group A opener.
