BRUCE MOUAT and his Scotland team edged closer to a fifth European curling title after beating Yannick Schwaller's Swiss rink in yesterday's semi-finals in Lohja, Finland.

The holders now face first-time finalist Marc Muskatewitz and his German squad in this afternoon's gold medal match, which the Scots will be widely expected to win.

Mouat and co have lost just once in their last 23 games, winning two Grand Slam titles in the process.

Switzerland pushed them all the way to an extra end on Monday and tested them again yesterday.
