Boss backs star to defy nasty injury for clash with leaders

JIM GOODWIN is keeping his fingers crossed Craig Sibbald will be fit for Sunday's visit to table-topping Hearts.

The Dundee United midfielder had to come off with a nasty shin injury in their recent defeat at Motherwell.

Sibbald couldn't train with his teammates at the start of the week but Goodwin hopes he'll be able to call on him for the trip to Tynecastle.

Goodwin said: “Craig took a real sore one in the game against Motherwell. He ended up having to get stitches in his shin.

“We expect him to be available hopefully for the game on Sunday. I’ll probably be later on once we get that assessed with the doctor and everything else because it is a serious cut.
