Post Office fighter Sir Alan finally gets his settlement
SIR Alan Bates has finally received a multi-million pound settlement for his Horizon compensation claim.
The hero sub-postmaster's long-awaited payout comes more than 20 years after he started campaigning for justice for victims of the Horizon IT scandal.
His work got a big boost after it featured on hit ITV drama Mr Bates Vs The Post Office in 2024.
Between 1999 and 2015, more than 900 sub-postmasters were wrongly prosecuted after the faulty IT system mistakenly indicated shortfalls in Post Office branch accounts, with many using their own money to make up the difference.
