Ryan primed to put frustrating crock setback No.2 in rear view

- BY SCOTT BURNS

RYAN STRAIN is keeping his fingers crossed he is over his injury hell - because he is praying Dundee United can help him with his World Cup dream.

The defender is just back from a knee injury that he suffered in the Conference League qualifier against UNA Strassen in July.

It followed a hamstring tear the previous season.

But now the Australian is looking for a run of games to force his way back into the Socceroos squad, who are on course to book their place in the World Cup finals in Canada, Mexico and America.

The 28-year-old said: “I's been frustrating, similar to last season really.

“A year ago it was a muscle probiem but this time I got a knock in the St Johnstone game, played against Strassen and my knee swelled up.

“It gave way, I got it scanned and it showed I had a fracture.
