ARCHIE Macpherson and Dougie Donnelly returning to our screens for a special 50th anniversary Sportscene will be music to the ears of the nation's die-hard football fans.
The show is now 50 years old - and many of us will remember the excitement that would build in our young hearts on a Saturday night as the famous Sportscene theme tune bursted into life and we could witness the joy of TV football.
In these days of nonstop live matches on TV it's hard to believe that we only really had Sportscene and STV rival Scotsport - featuring that other legend Arthur Montford - to get our footy fix.
