FINN RUSSELL is on course to take his place for Scotland in Sunday's clash with Argentina.

And Zander Fagerson could see his first action in seven months.

Bath standoff Russell picked up two injuries - to his knee and then his ankle ~in the 25-17 weekend loss to New Zealand.

But assistant coach Pieter de Villiers hopes the 33-year-old will be cleared for selection today.

He said: “Finn has been training fully, so we're optimistic for him to be available. We'll see how the niggles progress.

“There are still a few days left, but he trained fully today, so that’s great news”

Glasgow prop Fagerson has worked his way back to fitness from the calf injury that has sidelined him since April.
