RYAN McGOWAN has revealed docs' fears a "nasty scar" on his calf would be the least of his worries after going from training one day to a hospital bed the next.

The Aussie defender opened up on his threeand-a-half week stay in hospital with an infection, which had to be cut out of his leg as he shed 7kg.

Livingston boss David Martindale doesn't expect to see him feature this side of the international break. But a return seemed a hell of a way off at times during his hospital stay.

The skipper didn't expect to spend more than a night there, having got himself along at the end of a day in which he'd woken up with "what felt like a kick in the back of my calf".
