Windass pride as Josh continues to help the Dragons push up table

DEAN WINDASS has spoken of his pride after his son Josh played a key role in Wrexham’s Boxing Day win over Sheffield United.

The 31-year-old forward scored a decisive second-half penalty as his team edged out the Blades 5-3 in a thrilling festive encounter at the Racecourse Ground.

The former Sheffield Wednesday man has been one of the star performers for Wrexham under Phil Parkinson in the Championship this season, scoring seven goals and providing three assists.

Watching on, former striker Windass Snr could not hide his delight after the final whistle.

Writing on social media, he said: “Proud dad again, another assist and a goal’.

While his joy was clear, Josh has previously opened up on how it hasn't always been easy growing up in the shadow of one of Hull's most iconic figures.

He has candidly discussed the assumptions he faced while trying to forge his own career, as well as starkly outlining the differences between him and his dad.

Speaking in May 2023, Josh said: “Everyone says you only get clubs because of your old man.
