Two left 'clinging to upturned boat' in Strait

TWO people were left clinging to the upturned hull of their capsized boat in the Menai Strait. Earlier sightings had placed the pair "in the water" near the A55 Britannia Bridge.

Bangor Coastguard was alerted to the drama at around 1.47pm on Bank Holiday Monday.
Arriving at the scene, its rescue team located the drifting boat near the old harbour of Pwllfanogl, a former Menai Strait ferry crossing near Llanfairpwll, Anglesey.
By this time the two casualties had clambered onto the upturned hull, which was drifting south towards the National Trust's Plas Newydd property.
An RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) was already on standby ready to provide help if needed.
