CAUGHT BY PROBE AFTER COMPLAINTS AS COUNCIL WARNS IT 'WON'T TOLERATE THESE SELFISH ACTS'
Waste dumped illegally at Llanfairisgaer cemetery earlier this month
TWO “selfish” people have been fined for illegally dumping waste in a Gwynedd cemetery. Signs have since been erected at the Caernarfon graveyard warning the public against fly-tipping.
Over the Christmas period, Cyngor Gwynedd received complaints about littering at Llanbeblig Cemetery.
The vast site includes the graves of 53 war casualties and is the final resting place of 12 victims of the 1952 “St Kevin” disaster, the second-worst commercial airliner crash in Wales.
An investigation was launched by the council's enforcement service and, on January 6, evidence of fly-tipping was obtained.
This led to two people receiving Fixed Penalty Notices.
A £180 fine was issued to one culprit for disposing waste in an illegal manner and for transporting waste without being licensed to do so.
