SAFETY FIRST, VOWS SEAFRONT PIZZERIA GRANTED ALCOHOL LICENCE

THE owner of a pizzeria said the safety of children and families crabbing on Aberdyfi wharf was “paramount” after being granted a licence to sell alcohol.
-
Otto’s waterside cafe has been given permission to sell booze to “complement” its sale of artisan pizza.
The Aberdyfi Ice Cream Ltd business, trading as Otto’s, successfully applied to Cyngor Gwynedd for a premises licence to sell alcohol on and off the premises.
The site is located by the information centre, in the gardens of the Aberdyfi wharf. It has a designated outside seating area and stunning views of the Dyfi estuary.
The council’s central licensing subcommittee approved the licence application, which had attracted four objections mainly relating to public safety and nuisance, on Wednesday, July 16.
The cafe had applied to sell alcohol to drink on the premises daily with food or sell it with takeaway meals in sealed containers, with opening times varying seasonally, between 11am and 10pm.
Licensing manager Gwenan Roberts said the concerns had related to the selling of alcohol on the busy wharf. One had stated “it could lead to accidents in an area where families with young children enjoy crabbing,” she said.
